Growth in mass urban transit

Urban mass transit has grown in the last century. Is it the growing price of gas? Maybe, but most likely it is the combination of both the growing price of gas and also a more concern for the environment. People everywhere are realizing the effects that pollution from cars has on our planet this is causing them to realize that maybe it is better to ride a bus or car pool to work to save both our planet and their pockets. In the last century mass transit has grown especially in the urban areas. Places like Chicago who has the second largest transportation industry have defiantly seen a growth in the amount of customers they have had in the last 10-11 years alone. Right now they have 1.7 million riders. The reason they have been able to get this many riders is because they have made riding on a bus or train as comfortable as possible. Mass urban transit is already growing and will continue to grow as the price of gas and the concern for our environment rises.
